Metritis (uterine infections), when, how to treat them - Dairy Goat Care and Management

INFLAMMATION OF THE WOMB is indicated by fever, loss of appetite, straining, swollen vulva.
Caused by injuries in kidding, stillborn kid, or to attempts at removal of afterbirth or kids.

One doe had a stillborn kid, two days later the doe had a swollen vulva and was straning, no fever, still eating.   Checked for possability of third kid, none.  Gave her 2 cc Dura Pen.  Six hours later swelling down by 50% and less straning.  Second dose of Dura Pen 48 hours later.  Doe is recovering nicely.
